Off the Beaten Path: Taking A Mountain Biking Lesson
People who say “it’s like riding a bike” have clearly never spent any time mountain biking.
Mountain biking in Breckenridge is the unofficial summer activity, and it takes a little skill and a lot of nerve to navigate the mountain trails successfully. But with a little guidance and a lesson, you’ll be tearing up the trails as well as any eight-year-old. If you haven’t been mountain biking before or you need a quick refresher course, you and your family may want to consider a quick lesson.
Similar to skiing or snowboarding lessons, mountain biking lessons will give you the basics of biking, as well as some helpful hints and tips for making the most of your experience. Basic skills include braking, shifting, navigating obstacles, and turning. More advanced riders can get an in-depth tutorial on more advanced skills as well as a guided tour of some the more popular (or best-kept secret) trails. Lessons generally run about 2.5 hours.
Bikers will need sneakers, hiking, or bike shoes, helmets, sunscreen, water, and bikes. Gear like bikes, shoes, and helmets can be rented for an additional fee. With Breck Bike Week coming up, a quick tutorial or refresher course might be in order, so head out on the trail and get started!
