Hang Ten in Breckenridge

The Olympics will be over by mid-March, but skiing and snowboarding competitions are in full swing in Breckenridge, just in time for spring break guests.

If the Olympics got your competitive juices flowing, then be sure to check out the following events as either a competitor or a spectator during your Breckenridge Spring Break. -The 5 Peaks Mountaineering Race (Feb 22) is North America’s highest ski mountaineering race, starting at 9,600 feet and ascending to elevations of 13,000. Not for the faint of heart, this team competition will put your group’s skills to the test.

-On Saturday, March 29th, you can watch professional snowboarders compete for a  $15,000 purse and bragging rights in the 3rd Annual Mountain Dew Throwback Throw Down. This competition challenges athletes to compete on a 22 foot half pipe and then a specially built 5-foot mini pipe. Tricks cannot be more than 540 degrees, so riders will need to get creative.

-The Imperial Challenge is a triathlon Breck style. For 23 years, athletes have been riding their bikes six miles, ascending the top of Peak 8 and then descending to the base for a big finish. Spring Break means completion in Breckenridge- perfect for athletes and spectators.
